The end of the drain spout, also known as a downspout depending on your region, is a great place to hide a spare house key. Simply place the spare key in a magnetic spare key holder and then attach that holder to the underside of the end of the drain spout so it is out of sight from anyone that might walk past it. It will be easy to retrieve this key whenever you have the need to use it.
Under The Edge Of The Central Air Conditioning Unit
Using a magnetic key holder, you will want to place the key on the underside of the central air conditioning unit. Just make sure that you are keeping it towards the edge of the unit so it will be easy to retrieve it and you will not have to worry about sticking your hand too far under the unit. Also, you will want to make sure that you are keeping the key away from the drain tube or any electrical connections. This way, you will not have to worry about accidentally disturbing any of that, which would cause you to need to call for repairs.
Under A Rock
Hiding a spare key under a rock can be an excellent idea, especially if there are multiple rocks on you property. It is unlikely that a criminal will think to look under a rock in hopes of finding a spare key. Of course, you are going to want to make sure that the key is easily retrievable, free from becoming damaged, and is easy to find. To do this, you will want to place the spare house key in an old medication bottle with a lid that closes tightly. Glue the top of the lid to the bottom of a flat rock. After the glue has dried, you can dig a little hole that is big enough to fit the bottle and slide it into place. Paint a decoration on the top of the rock or place a cute statue right behind it. This way, when it is time to retrieve the spare house key, you will know the exact rock that it is hiding under.
